Recruiting Thread Hill People

So you want to be a Hill Person...congrats on choosing the best and craziest guild on Alleria! First things first, please make sure you've read the info posted in this forum! This contains the vast majority of our rules and regs, and it is important and expected that you're fully aware of everything here before you apply.

Next, to apply you need to click the 'apply to guild' button on the left hand column of the page. This will take you to our application template. Please answer everything as thoroughly as possible and be honest! The application is the guilds first chance to get to know you. Please put some thought and time into your answers. One or two word answers give us no insight to your personality. Spending a total of five minutes and submitting a non informative application is not the best way to make a good first impression. All info listed in your app is posted to our private application forum which can only be read by our raiders.

Our current recruitment officer is Sonatina. You should expect some kind of contact from her or one of her representatives in the first 48 hours after you post. It's also helpful if you try to get in contact with her when she's around as sometimes things slip through the cracks. Give us up to a week to come to a final decision on your application, as we need to give our Hill People enough time to pour over your app and ask questions. If you don't hear from us, please whisper one of our players in guild and one of the officers will get back to you. Contact may include PMs via the guildlaunch site, so please check your guildlaunch mail periodically!

Once you are invited to the guild there are a few things you should expect as a recruit:

First, make sure the officer that invites you also changes your status on these forums so you can read all the dirty secrets we have behind all the walls!

The things we evaluate while you are a recruit include:

• Getting to know if your personality is a match with the rest of our guildies. When you disagree with something said or done, do you run or stick it out? There are many ways to do the same thing, does it have to be done your way, or can you be flexible enough to go with the flow? This isn't to say to keep your mouth shut, you are always welcome to voice your opinions to an officer for due consideration.

• Ability to perform the task you are assigned in a 25 man raid environment. Can you heal/DPS/tank and move at the same time? Can you get out of the fire? Can you put up numbers that are competitive with like-assigned players?

• Ability to attend raids (we are a small guild and we need people to attend in order to stay small). Can you show up ready and on time? Do you only show up for gear nights, or do you show up for progression nights too?

Keep in mind that, during your recruit period, you will have the lowest priority for loot and progression raid invites. Obviously, we're going to try to get you into these runs as much as possible so we can see you in action, but be aware that, first and foremost, we're still working on clearing content. Since that is our focus, you need to have the flexibility to be able to sit when asked, including mid-raid if necessary.

At the beginning or end of every raid week you will talk with the Recruit Officer or someone assigned in her stead. You will discuss how the week went, you will get a status update and the decision to promote or let go/leave will be determined during those meetings.

Once it is determined that you are Raider material (determined by all criteria stated above, not just a few of the criteria), you will get your promotion. There is no time frame involved in the determination.

If all is a fit, you will be promoted to the Raider rank. If there is something we feel isn't correctable or you feel this isn't the place for you, we can part ways at that time.

The recruiting crew will try and stay in touch with you throughout the time you are a recruit. Feel free to ask any questions/advice throughout your recruitment period.

A word about combat logs:

Quote:
Please provide a link/copy of your most recent combat log.:
I don't have one

One of the core ideas that we used when we created this guild is the thought that everyone in the raid should be able to carry their own weight. To this end, we use combat logs a great deal to track performance and find ways to improve our game. We understand that this may differ from the culture that you're used to in your previous guild, however this data is an invaluable resource as part of the evaluation process.

Statements like those above are common and unnecessary! Its really easy to collect this data on your own, even if your guild doesn't do it.

1) When the raid starts, type /combatlog
2) When you're done collecting data for the night, type /combatlog again. Logging out will also turn off the combat log
3) Go into your wow folder and find the Logs subfolder. In there you'll find a 50-100mb file (depending on the length of data that you've logged) called WowCombatLog.txt. Compress it using any compression tool ya like and you'll be left with a 3-4mb file
4) Email that compressed file to ofthehillpeoplewow@gmail.com and we can do the rest.
5) In this section of your application, just post that you've mailed us a log so that we know to look for it.

As of April 25th and due to the content we are raiding with a lowering ability to bring Recruits into the content we are clearing, Combat Logs will be necessary for every applicant. The post above is the way to do it if your current guild is not recording the information. We are currently running an Alt 25 ICC, if you do not have a combat log, expect to be in that run your first week in guild.
