re: How to Raid with THP *updated 12/3/10*

*Updates in red*

Our goal is to complete all raid content blizzard provides us without sacrificing 20+ hours per week spent raiding. To do this, we set high expectations for our raiders to be ontime, prepared, focused and skilled.

Current raid nights/times are:

Tuesday: 7:50PM - 11PM
Wednesday: 7:50PM - 11PM
Sunday: 7:50PM - 11PM

We expect that you will fully attend >75% of raid nights in order to maintain a raider rank.

When inviting players to a raid, our goal is to be as fair and consistent as possible. We've attempted to setup a hierarchy which determines who gets invited and who is asked to go on standby, although no system is perfect. We ask that everyone is understanding when they don't receive an invite for the night; trust that we're doing the best we can to keep things as fair as possible. With that said, here's the current thinking we ask our raid leaders to do when they determine the lineup for any given night:

1) Raid composition trumps everything. Obviously, we'll make attempts to accomodate players who are following these guidelines but we can't cut off our nose just to spite our face -- fielding a non-viable group just to follow the rules ends up wasting the time of 25 people. Therefore, if necessary, we will look past everything else to make a viable raid. If this means sitting a raider who was online 3 hours before the raid getting prepared in favor of a recruit who arrived 1 minute before the pull because they fill a role that the raid leader feels needs to be filled, we have to do it.

Things that should be considered part of raid viability include (but are not limted to) -- # of healers, dps, tanks. # of melee vs. # of ranged dps. Class specific raid buffs. Class specific needs for the encounter. Necessary CC. etc etc etc

2) If the the raid leader feels that the current group makeup isn't working, and another player is available, (s)he will sometimes need to ask current group members to sit out for someone else. See #1 for the rationale.

3) When group viability is not an issue, you must be online, at the instance, and in the raid group at 7:50PM in order to maintain your initial invite priority for the night. If you haven't completed these steps, there's a possibility that you'll be passed over for another person who was. Again, in group viability issues, see #1/#2.

4) Raiders are the only class that have raid invite priority. At leadership's discretion, however, raiders may be asked to sit for recruits on some fights to ensure the guild's ability to truly evaluate a recruit's performance during the recruiting period. This is at the discretion of the raid leader. The goal here is not to punish raiders, but to allow us some opportunity to get recruits into THP runs so we can properly evaluate them.

Recruits will be expected to be able to come in and out of the raid during the course of the night during their recruitment period when necessary. If additional raiders becomes available during the course of the night, we may ask recruits who began the night in the raid to drop from the group. If viability is an issue, or the raid leader feels a change is needed mid-run, see #1/#2.

5) When raid viability is not at issue, and the raid leader is deciding between Raider A and Raider B for a single position, (s)he will use invite priority list to determine who gets the slot. The invite priority list is simple: everytime you sit, we'll add one point next to your name on the priority list. At the start of each raid night, the inviter will start with names with the highest numbers on the priority list and work their way down to thoes with the lowest numbers on the list. Unlike our previous ROT system which attempted to sit people the same % of the time, the priority list will aim to sit people the same # of times, giving an increased raiding incentive to those people who show up to raids more frequently. All other things being equal, priority ties will be broken via EP -- the player with >EP gets priority invite over the player with <EP.

6) Guild calendar will be used for raid signups. While you do not NEED to be signed up to get into a raid, we will use this list for initial invites, and you might get passed over or missed if you haven't signed up. Please try your best to sign up when you're available, as its the only tool we have to determine who's likely to be online on a given night, which effects our ability to determine which instances we will run or if we will need to cancel a raid night. If you do show up on a raid night but have not signed up on calendar, its your responsibility to whisper the inviter for a raid invite as we won't actively be looking to add anyone who hasn't signed up. Again, you'll still be expected to be online, at the instance and in the raid group at 7:50PM.

A few last words: I know everyone here wants to raid when they're online. If you didn't, you probably wouldn't be in a guild like THP. But please keep in mind that the raid leader is doing their best to both create a viable raid, and maintain some semblence of fairness and consistency in the process. If you're concerned about why you weren't invited, or have issue with the way something was handled, please talk/PM Macula or Eeskiboda AFTER the raid.
