re: Raider and Guild Member Expectations and general Guild Rules

Member / Friend Expectations

1) We expect every guild member to be respectful of one another. You don't necessarily have to like everyone, but harassment or just plain being an ass will not be tolerated.

2) Its highly likely that we'll have players from different ethnicity, genders, religions etc. Keep this in mind, especially when joking around with new members. We want everyone to be able to have fun, but not if its coming at the expense of others guildies.

3) Be able to take a joke! As stated above, we will not tolerate harassment however, we also expect this to be a lighthearted atmosphere outside of raids. If you have a hard time handling crude humor, this probably isn't the place for you.

4) Drama is unacceptable. If you have an issue with a person, policy or decision being made in-game, take it to PMs/whispers with the officers or the person. If a resolution is not found then you are expected to talk to an officer for mediation (if the issue involves an officer please talk to another officer about it).

5) We expect members to be able to take constructive criticism. If you're not pulling your weight, take feedback to heart and make changes, otherwise this might not be the place for you. We love raw, hard working and teachable players. We won't tolerate players who believe they have it all figured out yet under perform or don't perform well with the group (a person can be top of the charts and not a good team player).

6) We reserve the right to make changes on the fly as a situation may be unfolding. After any in-game change is made, it will be discussed and changes will be made in the policy when and if it is deemed necessary. This is not to say "we'll do what we want", this is to say "we need be able to do what's right in the moment to attempt to protect the spirit of the law".

7) Behave in a pug the same way you would behave in a guild raid. Reports of a player being an ass (see number 1 above) will result in removal from the guild if the behavior continues.

Raider Expectations:

1) In order to maintain a raider rank, raiders must attend an average of two raids per week. This is the minimum but we encourage 3-4 nights a week of raiding. If a raider falls below this minimum mark during a two week period an in-game-mail warning will be sent. If the following 2 weeks the raider is still below the minimum attendance they will be demoted to member. To become a raider again they must follow the same path as a recruit.

2) Because we’re a casual progression oriented raiding guild, we expect to be informed if you will be away from game for extended periods. Please make sure you inform one of the officers or post on the forums, particularly for absences of one week or more.

If you will be away for longer then 4 weeks you will be demoted to member status and your Raider position in the guild will be reevaluated when you return.

If you decide to disappear from raiding for longer then a week without informing an officer you risk being demoted to member and your Raider position in the guild will be reevaluated when you return.

3) You will be expected to be on time and ready for the night's encounters. This means being fully repaired before you step into the instance, having enough consumables (flask, potions, elixirs, food) to complete the night without having to leave for more and having enough reagents to buff for a full night of raiding. "On time" will be considered being in front of the correct instance portal ten minutes before start time. If you are not there at this point without notice, you lose your priority for a raid spot. Start time reflects the first pull time, not when to show up.

4) We expect you to have full consumables (flask and food) stacked on every boss.

5) You are expected to have every piece of raiding gear you plan to use for the night appropriately enchanted and gemmed. Do not ask to leave during the middle raid to enchant a new item.

6) You are expected to be knowledgeable on every boss fight we will face for the night. The knowledge will be gained by either experience or reading up on the strategy and watching at least one video of the encounter before invites start.

7) We reserve the right to make changes on the fly as a situation may be unfolding. After any in-game change is made, it will be discussed and changes will be made in the policy when and if it is deemed necessary. This is not to say "we'll do what we want", this is to say "we need be able to do what's right in the moment to attempt to protect the spirit of the law".

Rank Advancement:

If a member wishes to become a raider they must clarify their intent to an officer. The member will then be reassigned the recruit rank and must follow the same process a recruit would. These steps are outlined in the Recruit Process thread in this same forum. This also applies to raiders that have been demoted to member status for any reason.

Steps for Correction:

We believe all the people we will have, as well as those we recruit will be top notch players; however, we realize that sometimes that will not fully be the case for all we bring in to the guild. We want to make sure that when a member <of the Hill People> signs up for a raid that they know everyone they are grouping with is going to be completely focused and a top notch player. That means some evaluation of play is necessary.

We've always tried to be accepting of the flaws in other players up to a certain extent, so this is not to say that if you are not topping the charts then you are no good. It's to say, we're trying to make sure the other people in the raid are able to get their goals of the instance complete with minimal mistakes and hiccups.

That being said we will have some procedures in place to help those players that want and who are identified as needing help with their ability in game. They are as follows:

1) Officers will have a verbal talk with them on vent to figure out what the player's thinking is for the situation. Sometimes just a change in focus or a small change in philosophy can make all the difference in the world.

2) Assign a guildie to mentor the player. We will need volunteers to help out that has the knowledge and people skills to help for the needed class. The mentor will figure out what changes can be made to help the player out.

3) Demote the player to member status. Open up a private forum for the mentor, the officers and the player where specific goals can be set for improvement and deadlines for the goals need to be met. We will also post places to read where the player can get a better understanding of what we're asking for.

These are steps of action. The player will move to step two when the officers deem it necessary. Likewise they will move to step three when the officers and mentor feel it is needed. Getting to step three will most likely never happen in this guild, but the procedure is in place for it.

Remember, we want all of the players in the guild to have fun as a whole. We are not going to be elitist, but we will expect all raiding spots to be taken up by capable players. No one should feel like they have to pull someone else’s weight.
